About
I was born in Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region of northern China. In 2013, I moved to the United States to study fine arts. In 2017, I received my BFA in Graphic Design from Ohio University. I am currently completing my MFA with a focus on performance art at the Ohio University School of Art + Design.
Most of my life was spent living in-between different cultures as I grew up in China as a Chinese-Mongolian and later moved to the United States. My artwork and research have been concerned with themes in post-colonialism, ethnic studies and cultural identities. My art practices examine the impact of the ongoing social transformations in China on Chinese-Mongolian’s identity as an ethnic minority group. My artworks present the inevitable influence of cultural adjustments on each Mongolian’s self-concept and social performance.
Currently I’m in the process of preparing my thesis exhibition. My research attempts to explore the generational identity struggles of contemporary Chinese Mongolians. Through my thesis development, I hope to bring more global attention as well as provide an outlet for the under-discussed contemporary Chinese-Mongolian ethnic issues.
